I have, make that, had a beautiful glass tabletop I have been using as a computer desk for several years. This morning, at 3:00 am with absolutely no provocation, the entire tabletop shattered into a million pieces. We shot straight up in bed to the sound of glass, the desk and all its contents crashing to the floor, gouging the wood, the furniture and the walls. Piles of glass shards everywhere, still pinging like the sound of a metal spoon on crystal as it continued to crackle and break. Sitting, face down in the middle of mounds of debris?...my iMac...Nooooo! The screen shattered, plugs straining at the outlets. In that split second I saw my "Mac's" life pass before my eyes; all the photos of M's artwork, my blog archives, my library research, family photos, archived emails...to infinity! We're talking history here!! I am praying my back-up hard drive did its job. I am also very grateful I was not sitting, working on the computer with Zen curled up at my feet at 3 am this morning...like I have been known to do! Here's a shot of the madness.

Holy smokes! That must have been terrifying! What a way to wake up.
Man Vicky - that is a MESS! Yes, you are certainly lucky that you and Zen were not at that desk when it broke. You both would have been broken and blood EVERYWHERE! So we can say one good thing about this royal mess. I hope all your information is safe on the hard drive plus there are companies that can restore that information. Think of you often - Love you!
