Ryker's Fox

Months ago Michael and I had a special request from our dear friend Chelsea Ashton to create a work of art that she could then transform into quilt blocks for her soon-to-be-born baby boy Ryker. The theme? Foxes!! See all about that here. I promised to post the process when we returned from Italy in July. Well...a lot of water under the bridge since then...but at last, here is the promised post.

Preliminary Sketch
Water color, graphite and some pen detail
Keeping it simple, with the quilt block in mind
I included the wee stuffed fox, of course!  :)

Michael put his fox in a boat! Love this!!

Ryker's Fox ~  Acrylic, graphite, metal leaf...and other stuff!

We wish Chelsea, husband Rob and darling baby Ryker lots of love and sweet baby times together!
Finished quilt? Chels??! xo

Sunday Meditation

At the highest level of our being, we don't do anything.
We are at rest when the power of God works through us.
Meditation is a profound relaxation.
The ego's frantic voice, its vain imaginings, are burned away.

The Deep Freeze

Our journey to Northern Michigan the winter of 2012 (I know! How crazy is that!) will forever be remembered as Christmas in a deep freeze. No power for a week over the holidays (really?!!) However, in the spirit of keeping the whining to a minimum....even a deep freeze can be beautiful.

Creative Pay-It-Forward

You know how it is when you're wandering about...wondering what your next step will be...asking the universe to give you a sign? In a most unlikely place for inspiration I saw this post on FB:
Creative Pay-It-Forward 2013: The first five people to comment on this status will receive, from me, sometime in the next calendar year-- a gift. Perhaps a book, or handmade item, or a candle, music, anything-- a surprise! There will likely be no warning and it will happen whenever the mood strikes me. The catch? Those five people must make the same offer in their facebook statuses...
...and was immediately drawn to participate. I re-posted, received an abundance of responses and have been inspired to hand-make most, if not all of the promised gifts. Proving that inspiration is not relegated to country walks and museums...but Face Book? Who knew? The true inspiration being the freedom to do/give anything I like; a badly needed reminder that expectations (mostly my own) can suffocate the creative process (mostly my own)! Bonus...It keeps on going!!

Nice to be back in the studio and whip these up for my first contribution to Pay it Forward!

"Copelandus Humana" a Love Story

A Rare Sighting of the Exotic Copelandus Humana
linocut, 8 x10
 2012  E.K.Wimmer

A gift, a love letter, an exquisite work of art, a nod to our particular brand of humor? All of this and more!  Yes, we Coplandus Humana know how to pick 'em. Friends that is....also one of the more desirable traits of our species. Of course, we do possess "powers unknown to modern science and reason"...must be how we manage to be blessed with having the amazingly talented E.K. Wimmer in our lives. Thank you Eric for your gift of this wild and woolly rendering! Honored, simply honored!

Find more, more and more about the multi-talented E.K. Wimmer here and here.

Home is Wherever I am With You

Welcome Home Sunset Over the Tularosa Basin

If we are fortunate, a journey of the heart leads us right back to ourselves. The last quarter of this year has been such a journey; filled with heartbreak, kindness, generosity, sadness, joy, love, and travel, lots and lots of travel. Not a vacation, but a verification that I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
I am ready to begin posting again, cooking, playing, painting, planning...just breathing in and breathing out. It feels good to be back.
